The screens of Cookie Rocks

← Documentation

Written for Cookie Rocks 2.11.0, checked on 6 November 2026. The current version is 2.11.2: some details may have changed.

What this section is for. It explains each screen of Cookie Rocks, one page per screen. Use it when you want to know what a screen shows, or what a setting does.

Every screen sits under the Cookie Rocks menu of WordPress, near the bottom of the admin menu. A row of tabs at the top of each screen takes you from one screen to the next. Only administrators see them. Two screens are not in the menu: Laws opens from the Overview, and Weight from Developers.

The screens of the Audit

  • Overview: what to fix first, with a button for each point.
  • Obligations: four questions about your site, then what the law asks of it.
  • Laws: the cookie rules of 248 countries, regions and US states, in plain words. It opens from the Overview.
  • Cookies: the scan of your pages, and whether each cookie waits for the visitor’s choice.
  • Google: your Google tags and the consent signals they receive.
  • Consent: what your current cookie banner does, and where your policy pages are.
  • Developers: what Cookie Rocks has been tested with, and the cookies it knows.
  • Weight: what each plugin adds to your home page. It opens from Developers.

Around the screens: header, saving, notices
  • Next to the name Cookie Rocks, at the top of each screen, the link Get the Cookie Rocks banner opens the pricing page of cookierocks.com in a new tab.
  • A screen with settings has its own Save Changes button. It saves the fields of that screen only. The answers of the Obligations screen are saved without reloading the page.
  • The number on the Cookie Rocks menu counts the points to fix and the messages you have not read yet.
  • Until the setup steps are done or hidden, the WordPress Dashboard and the Plugins page show “Cookie Rocks is installed.” with the steps that are left.
  • A serious problem shows a red notice on the WordPress Dashboard and the Plugins page only. See Overview.
  • Tools > Site Health has a Cookie Rocks test.
  • On the Plugins page, the Settings link of Cookie Rocks opens the Overview.
With Cookie Rocks Pro
  • The header shows a pill instead of the link: Active when the banner is on, Off when it is off.
  • With a Community key, the header, the menu and the Plugins page show the name Cookie Rocks Community.
  • Without a valid key, the settings of the banner are locked. The banner keeps working. You can still turn it off, choose your policy pages and ask everyone again. The screens of the Audit stay open. See Licence.

Next step: Overview, the first screen of the menu.
