Why we built it

We live in WordPress. We build sites for every kind of business, from the electrician round the corner to the multinational, and every one of them needed a cookie banner. Site after site, we tried the usual plugins, and none of them ever won us over: too heavy, too hard to read, too keen to steer visitors towards “Accept”. On a site in several languages, the translations had to be patched by hand. With visitors from several countries, one country’s rules were applied to everyone. Worse, cookies often slipped through before the visitor had said a word. Our clients thought they were compliant. Too often, they were not.

So we built the plugin we had been looking for: one that explains the rules in plain words, checks what a site really does, weighs almost nothing and treats visitors fairly.

How we work

• A legal watch. Our watch service follows the cookie rules of 248 jurisdictions and their authorities. When a rule changes, Cookie Rocks is updated and tells you what it means for your site.
• Tests, version after version. The plugins and themes we support are tested automatically around each version, the most common ones again every week, and the most used tools are loaded on a test site to record the cookies they set. See what is tested.
• Measured, not promised. The weight of Cookie Rocks and of the other consent plugins is measured and published, with the method. See the figures.
• Your visitors stay yours. Choices and proofs stay in your own WordPress. The plugin never sends us anything about your visitors.
• Free software. Cookie Rocks Audit and Cookie Rocks Pro are licensed under the GPL, like WordPress. A key gives updates, support and our services, never a restriction on the code.
• People answer. Every support request is read and answered by a person, in any language. Support.
