Community key · for non-commercial sites
Free for passion projects. Really free.
no catch, no card, no ads
The web we love lives thanks to people with a passion: a page about what they love, a band, a club, a choir, a student circle. They should not pay to respect their visitors. So Cookie Rocks gives them a free Community key: every feature, year after year.

Get your free Community key
Before you ask, read the Community rules: we check every site by hand.
Everything, for free
A Community key opens the complete plugin, exactly like a paid key. Nothing is held back, nothing is a trial version.
Free usually means you’re the product. Here, you’re just the boss. 100% on your site, nothing about your visitors comes to us, and real primates on support (mostly bipedal).
- The audit of your site and of the rules of 248 jurisdictions, in plain words
- A fair banner in 54 languages, light or dark, with your colours
- The cookies of 675 tools known by name and held until consent, the others found by the scan, placeholders for videos and maps
- Google Consent Mode v2 and WP Consent API
- The register of proofs of consent, with an optional copy to your own storage: Dropbox, a WebDAV server, a signed webhook or an e-mail address
- A cookie policy that writes itself, and the check of your privacy policy
- Statistics of the answers, on your own site
- Every update, including the ones that follow the law, and support by ticket
The Community rules
Community keys are for sites made out of passion, not for profit. We read every request and look at every site ourselves.
Welcome
Sites made out of passion:
- Clubs and associations without a shop
- Bands, choirs and artists. A small band selling its own self-produced CD? Still on CD in 2026? We’ll allow it.
- Youth movements, sports clubs, student circles
- Personal pages and hobby blogs, written by people
- Small publishers of free and open-source software given away for free: the site of the software, or the publisher’s own site, with no paid edition and no paid support
- Non-profit projects that sell nothing
Not eligible
These need a paid key, or no key at all:
- Shops, and sites that sell products or services
- Sites that live on advertising or affiliate links
- SEO blogs, AI-generated content, link farms: sites made to rank or to sell links
- Sites that promote a business, a freelancer or a brand
- Software with a free edition and a paid one (open core), or sold support
- Company sites: they take a paid key, with 30 days free
- And, it goes without saying for a site that follows the cookie laws of 248 jurisdictions: nothing illegal, where the site is run or where it is read
- One key per person, asked with a personal e-mail address (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Proton and the like).
- One domain or one subdomain, exactly. A paid key also covers 3 subdomains and 2 staging sites; a Community key covers none. Local sites stay free.
- One year, then renewed in one click from your account, as long as the site stays non-commercial.
- We may decline a request without giving a reason, and switch off a Community key without warning if the site turns out to be covered in ads, affiliate links or generated content.

Questions
Who can get a Community key?
A site that sells nothing and promotes no business: a club, an association without a shop, a band, a village choir, a youth movement, a sports club, a student circle, an art project, a small publisher of free software given away for free, with no paid edition, a personal page. Run by one person or by a group. See the Community rules.
Why is it free?
Because the web we love is made by these sites too, and respecting visitors should not depend on a budget. Businesses pay for their keys; that is what keeps Community keys free.
Is it the same plugin as the paid one?
Yes. Every feature, every update and support, exactly as with a paid key. Only one difference: a Community key works on one domain or one subdomain, without the extra subdomains and staging sites of a paid key.
What happens after one year?
Fourteen days before the end, an e-mail reminds you. One click in your account to say the site is still non-commercial, and the key runs for another year. Free again.
And if my site starts selling or showing ads?
Then it needs a business key, at the usual price. A Community key used on a site covered in ads or affiliate links can be switched off without warning.
I have several non-commercial sites.
A Community key covers one site, and there is one per person. For more sites, keys are paid, one per site and per year.
How can I give back?
You do not have to: the key is free, full stop. If you would like to help anyway, four ways matter most to us: check the translation of the banner your visitors see, first, then of the plugin and of this site, or translate Cookie Rocks into a new language (we already have a review tool for that: write to us and we give you access); be our legal correspondent, and tell us when a law on cookies or privacy changes in your country, with the official link; test the banner with a screen reader or the keyboard, and tell us what gets in the way; and spread the word in your community: your federation, your school, your network of clubs and associations. We are preparing a place for contributors: write to us if you want to be among the first.
One more thing: vote for the colour of next year’s banners. Once a day, no account.
