Written for Cookie Rocks 2.10.0, checked on 5 November 2026. The current version is 2.11.2: some details may have changed.
When Polylang is active, Cookie Rocks takes the languages of your site from Polylang, the main language first. Every check that depends on a language follows them.
Cookie Rocks is tested automatically with the latest version of Polylang from WordPress.org. The Compatibility table of the Developers page marks it Tested automatically with its latest version.
Set it up in 3 steps
- Translate your privacy policy page and your cookie policy page with Polylang, in every language of your site, and publish each translation. A translation of the cookie policy only needs the
[cookie_rocks_policy]shortcode. - Open Cookie Rocks, Consent. Choose the Privacy policy page and the Cookie policy page once, then click Save Changes. Cookie Rocks finds their translations by itself.
- Open Obligations. Under Your privacy policy, point by point, open each language and add what is missing.
If you see “To translate”. A language of your site has no translation of the privacy policy. Visitors who read that language are sent to the page in another language. Translate the page with Polylang and publish it.
Tip. In your current banner, check that its texts exist in each language of your site. The Overview warns when it is set up in fewer languages than your site.
What the Audit checks
- Your privacy policy, point by point, on the Obligations page, checks each published translation of your privacy policy, with one list per language. The sentences to copy are in the language of each page when Cookie Rocks is translated into it, in English otherwise.
- The Overview compares the languages of your current banner with those of your site. It warns when the banner is set up in fewer languages than the site, or when the free version of your cookie plugin has only one language.
- The language cookie of Polylang (
pll_language) is recognised as necessary: it remembers the language chosen by the visitor. - The link of the cookie policy to the privacy policy leads to the translation in the language of the page.
The language of the cookie policy
The [cookie_rocks_policy] shortcode writes the policy in the language of the page, for every language Cookie Rocks is translated into: English, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bulgarian, Bangla, Catalan, Czech, Danish, German, Greek, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), Estonian, Finnish, French, Irish, Hindi, Croatian, Hungarian, Armenian, Indonesian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Georgian, Kazakh, Korean, Kyrgyz, Lithuanian, Latvian, Macedonian, Mongolian, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian Bokmål, Nepali, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Albanian, Serbian (Cyrillic), Serbian (Latin), Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Uzbek, Vietnamese, Chinese (Simplified) and Chinese (Traditional).
With the Audit alone, this needs the language files of Cookie Rocks for that language on your site. WordPress downloads them with its translation updates, for the languages of your site. Until then, the policy shows in English.
Regional variants, such as Belgian French, use the main language.
