Cookie consent for Kadence and Kadence Blocks

background videos wait too

← Cookie Rocks for your stack

The Kadence theme and Kadence Blocks load Google Fonts once you choose one, and a row with a YouTube background video writes a YouTube player straight into the page. Cookie Rocks holds that background video until the visitor agrees. Fonts are best hosted on your own site.

What matters for consent with Kadence

Background videos are held

A Kadence Blocks row with a YouTube background video puts the YouTube player in the page itself. Cookie Rocks holds it: nothing reaches YouTube before the choice. After the visitor accepts, the video starts without a reload, from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced address.

Video popups wait for the click

The Video Popup block creates its player only on click, and uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode and Vimeo’s do-not-track option by default.

Google Fonts: host them yourself

Both the theme and Kadence Blocks load a chosen Google font from Google’s servers. Their “Load Google Fonts Locally” option is off by default: switch it on. See Fonts.

Small cookies of its own

The evergreen countdown keeps each visitor’s deadline in a first-party cookie from the first page. The shop’s grid or list switch sets one only after a click. Neither the theme nor Kadence Blocks sends a consent signal.

What our tests found on Kadence

  • Good to knowYouTube and Vimeo background videos wait for consent
    • Held without a box: the section shows its fallback image or colour.
    • After consent: muted, looped, no reload.
    • A video hosted on the site (MP4, WebM) plays for everyone.

    Full detail

A YouTube or Vimeo background video of a section or container (Elementor, Kadence, Beaver Builder) is held without any box until consent: the section shows the builder's fallback image, or its background colour. After consent it starts muted and looped, without a reload; visitors who refuse never see it. A background video hosted on the site (MP4 or WebM) is never held and plays for everyone, so it is the better choice for a hero section, with a fallback image set in any case.

  • Good to know · Cookie RocksThe audit names the local fonts setting of your theme

When the home page loads Google Fonts, the Cookie Rocks 2.9.5 audit names the setting of the active theme or plugin that serves them from the site: Elementor, WP Rocket, Spectra, Kadence Blocks, OMGF, Local Google Fonts, Astra, Kadence, OceanWP or Neve. Otherwise it suggests a plugin such as OMGF. Divi, Bricks, Oxygen and Beaver Builder have no such setting. With Cookie Rocks Pro, it points to « Serve Google Fonts from this site » instead.

The Google Maps block uses a native loading=lazy iframe or maps.googleapis.com; no iframe src is moved to data-src.

Questions

What about the Google Maps block?

It loads a map from Google Maps, with a native lazy-loaded iframe or Google’s map script. Like any map from Google, it is part of what the visitor’s choice should cover.

What happens after the 30-day trial?

The banner, your visitors’ choices and your proofs of consent keep working. Without a key, most settings lock, updates and support stop. Take a key at any time and everything opens again.
