Cookie consent for Popup Maker

hidden is not unloaded

← Cookie Rocks for your stack

Popup Maker sets its cookie only when the popup event happens, on close by default, and counts views on your own site. The catch is what you put inside a popup: every popup is in the page from the start, so a video or map inside loads even if the popup never opens.

What Popup Maker adds to your visitors’ browser

No trackers In our test of Popup Maker 1.25.0 on 7 November 2026, the plugin itself added no tracker and no cookie. What you place in your pages with it, such as a video or a map, still counts.

What matters for consent with Popup Maker

Its own cookie

The cookie that stops a popup from coming back is written when the visitor closes it, never on arrival. It remembers a choice the visitor made, on your site only.

Content loads with the page

A YouTube video or a Google Maps map inside a popup loads with the page, hidden. Cookie Rocks holds known trackers until consent, so place only content it can hold, or a link.

Google Fonts in popup themes

A Google font chosen in a popup theme is pulled from Google by Popup Maker’s own stylesheet, on every page. No banner can hold it. Use “Don’t Load Google Fonts” or a font from your site.

What our tests found on Popup Maker

  • Set before the choice · popup-makerPopup Maker 1.25.0 and Google Fonts

Popup Maker 1.25.0 loads Montserrat from Google Fonts before any choice, through a generated stylesheet (pum-site-styles.css). Cookie Rocks Pro 2.11.2 copies it to the site: no call to Google remained in our test.

setting “Don't Load Google Fonts (disable_google_font_loading)”

    • A video, map or form in a popup loads with the page, even unopened, unless a banner holds its iframe.
    • A Google font in a popup theme loads from Popup Maker's stylesheet, out of reach of a banner.
    • The Don't Load Google Fonts setting stops the font.

    Full detail

Popup Maker writes every popup into the page at load, hidden: a video, map or form placed in a popup loads with the page even if the popup never opens, unless a banner holds its iframe. A Google font chosen in a popup theme is loaded by an @import at the top of Popup Maker's generated stylesheet pum-site-styles.css, on every page that loads it, out of reach of a banner; the Don't Load Google Fonts setting stops it.

How we test it

Around each version, with its latest release

Around each Cookie Rocks version, a fresh WordPress installs its latest version from WordPress.org next to Cookie Rocks and runs the same checks. A new version joins the next run on its own.

  • Popup Maker 1.25.0, tested on 7 November 2026.
  • The banner shows, the trackers of the test page wait for consent and load after it, and Cookie Rocks raises no PHP error.
  • Settings of the test: Default settings after activation.
  • Last run: Popup Maker 1.25.0 on 7 November 2026, with WordPress 7.1.3.

Questions

Are popup statistics a tracker?

Open and conversion counts go to your own site, not to another company.

What happens after the 30-day trial?

The banner, your visitors’ choices and your proofs of consent keep working. Without a key, most settings lock, updates and support stop. Take a key at any time and everything opens again.
