What matters for consent with multisite networks

Network or site by site

Network Activate turns Cookie Rocks on for every site of the network, including the sites you create later. Activating it from the dashboard of one site turns it on for that site only.

Each site on its own

Every site has its own settings, its own Obligations page and its own countries. The countries of each site can be different.

Its own banner and policy

Each site shows its own banner and its own cookie policy.

Its own proofs and choice

Each site keeps its own register of proofs of consent, in the tables of that site, and its own cookie for the visitor’s choice. A visitor who accepts on one site of the network is asked again on another.

Clean removal

Deleting Cookie Rocks from the network erases the data of every site, each in its own tables. Export the proofs of each site first if you need them.

Questions

How many keys does a network need?

It depends on the domains. Sites in sub-folders share one domain: one key. Sites on subdomains: one key covers the domain and some of its subdomains, as the multisite guide details. Sites on different domains: one key per domain.

Is the key set for the whole network?

No. A key is entered site by site, on the Licence page of each site.

Do local sites use up a key?

No. Local sites, such as localhost or .test addresses, never use up a key.

Which networks are tested?

Cookie Rocks is tested on a network with sites in sub-folders. Networks on subdomains work the same way in the code, but have not been tested yet.

What happens after the 30-day trial?

The banner, your visitors’ choices and your proofs of consent keep working. Without a key, most settings lock, updates and support stop. Take a key at any time and everything opens again.
