Works with your stack

Cookie consent next to Yoast SEO

nothing to hold, much to leave alone

← Cookie Rocks for your stack

Yoast SEO sets no cookie and loads no outside script for your visitors. It adds meta tags and structured data to your pages. There is nothing in it to hold: what matters is that a consent plugin leaves its tags alone, and two optional address clean-ups.

What Yoast SEO adds to your visitors’ browser

No trackers In our test of Yoast SEO 28.8 on 7 November 2026, the plugin itself added no tracker and no cookie. What you place in your pages with it, such as a video or a map, still counts.

What Yoast SEO puts on your pages

Meta tags
Titles, descriptions, canonical links and social tags in the page head. No script, no cookie.
Structured data
A JSON-LD block that describes the page to search engines.
Address clean-ups, if you turn them on
Options under crawl optimisation that redirect addresses carrying unknown or campaign parameters.
Yoast Local SEO maps
With a Google Maps key, the paid Local SEO add-on shows Google Maps, which waits for consent like any embedded map.
Usage data
Sent to Yoast only if you, the site owner, opt in. Nothing comes from your visitors.

What matters for consent with Yoast SEO

Nothing to hold

Yoast SEO adds no tracker to your pages, so there is nothing in it to declare or hold until consent.

Structured data stays as it is

Cookie Rocks never touches JSON-LD scripts, so Yoast’s structured data reaches search engines unchanged.

Feeds and sitemaps untouched

Cookie Rocks does not rewrite feeds, robots.txt, embeds or JSON requests, and has no code that changes Yoast settings or sitemaps.

Ad click IDs and address clean-up

If you turn on the clean-up of unregistered URL parameters, Yoast removes click IDs such as fbclid or msclkid before a tag that loads after consent can read them. Add the ones you need to its allowed list.

Campaign parameters

The campaign tracking option moves utm_ parameters behind a # with a redirect. A Google tag that loads after consent may then miss them. Leave it off if you measure campaigns.

Yoast SEO's crawl cleanup options are off by default. With Unregistered URL parameters on, it redirects addresses carrying unknown parameters and keeps only utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, gclid and gtm_debug by default, so click IDs such as fbclid, msclkid, gbraid or wbraid are removed before a tag released after consent can read them. With Campaign tracking URL parameters on, a 301 moves utm_ parameters into the fragment (#utm_...).

Questions

Will search engines see the banner text in my pages?

By default, no. The banner texts live in a separate file per language, loaded after the page.

Does Yoast SEO need consent?

Not for itself: it sets no cookie for visitors. The tags of other plugins on your pages are a separate question.

Does Cookie Rocks change my Yoast settings?

No. The two plugins work side by side, and Cookie Rocks is tested with the latest Yoast SEO.

What happens after the 30-day trial?

The banner, your visitors’ choices and your proofs of consent keep working. Without a key, most settings lock, updates and support stop. Take a key at any time and everything opens again.
