Cookie consent for Ultimate Social Media Icons

two buttons call out

← Cookie Rocks for your stack

Most Ultimate Social Media Icons buttons are local images and plain links. Two options change that: the YouTube Subscribe button and the LinkedIn Follow or Recommend button. Both print a script from Google or LinkedIn on every page.

What Ultimate Social Media Icons adds to your visitors’ browser

No trackers In our test of Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate Social Media) 3.0.2 on 7 November 2026, the plugin itself added no tracker and no cookie. What you place in your pages with it, such as a video or a map, still counts.

What matters for consent with Ultimate Social Media Icons

Plain icons stay at home

Facebook, X, Pinterest, RSS and e-mail icons are local images and plain links. All the plugin’s own files come from your site.

YouTube Subscribe loads Google

Once the YouTube icon has the Subscribe button with a channel ID, the plugin prints Google’s platform script on every page, even pages without icons. Where icons show, it builds the YouTube subscribe frame.

LinkedIn buttons load LinkedIn

LinkedIn Follow or Recommend prints LinkedIn’s script the same way.

The e-mail form goes to the vendor

Its subscription form sends the typed address to follow.it, the vendor’s newsletter tool, when submitted. Follower counts are fetched by your server, only when counts are on.

Questions

Which settings should I check?

The YouTube Subscribe button and the LinkedIn buttons. Without them, the icons load nothing from outside. With them, Google’s or LinkedIn’s script has to wait for consent. Cookie Rocks holds known trackers until the visitor agrees.

What happens after the 30-day trial?

The banner, your visitors’ choices and your proofs of consent keep working. Without a key, most settings lock, updates and support stop. Take a key at any time and everything opens again.
