What we look at in every cookie plugin

Every plugin, the same seven questions

Trackers before the choice: Do Google Analytics, the Meta pixel or an embedded video wait for the visitor’s consent, or load straight away?
After Reject: Is Reject really a no? We check what still loads, and what is still stored, once the visitor has refused.
Whose rules: One rule for the whole of Europe, or the rules of each country your visitors come from? They are not the same.
Google Consent Mode: Is it set, and set the way your visitors’ countries ask for it?
How long a choice lasts: Some countries cap it, others say nothing. The banner should ask again at the right time.
Changing one’s mind: A way to reopen the cookie choices on every page, not just a link to a page of text.
Work left to you: The settings you have to change yourself before it follows the rules.

Allowing only Google reCAPTCHA or hCaptcha from a form reloads the page once, and what the visitor typed stays in the form.

What we say about a plugin is checked before it is published, with its date and the version tested.
Plugins change: we check again at each of their major versions, and at each version of Cookie Rocks.
